The Friday Group Sessionistas (FGS) is a well known vibrant art collective and commumity organization based in Cebu City, Philippines. Founded by Efren Enolva and Francisco Soria, the group was officially formalized in 2019.  The collective originally started as a close circle of artist friends who would gather on Fridays—the day they felt most free—to hang out and engage in live "plein air" (outdoor) painting sessions. Among the members are Rodel Estudillo, Anna Maria Lubanga, Tina Marie Gandionco, Karsten Pabinguit, Chauncey "Chenie" Ferolino, Krisha Mae Alsola, Paul Tagalog and many more.
Core Mission & Activities
  • Promoting Cebuano Art: Their core mission is to make visual arts highly accessible to ordinary Cebuanos, encouraging locals to understand, appreciate, and love drawing and painting.
  • Live Sessions & Workshops: True to their name, the group regularly hosts live art "sessions"—which include painting on the spot together, conducting weekend live sketching at venues like the Banilad Town Center, and organizing local art workshops.
  • Mentorship: FGS places a strong focus on uplifting youth and Gen Z artists. They practice a distinct mentor-student dynamic where established core members guide and critique younger artists to develop their full potential.
Major Exhibitions & Venues
The group has become a valuable staple in the local creative scene, showcasing their diverse styles (ranging from oil and acrylic to ink and watercolor) across top Cebuano landmarks:
  • Prominent Malls: Regular exhibitions at SM Seaside City Cebu (such as live coffee-portrait painting festivals), Robinsons Galleria Cebu, and Ayala Center Cebu.
  • Cultural Landmarks: They partnered with the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) for its first-ever public art exhibit ("Mga Pamalandong sa Kagawasan") to greet incoming passengers with local artwork.
  • Recent Highlights: Their major painting exhibition, "PASUMBINGAY", organized in collaboration with the Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Office, launched at lyf Cebu City Hotel to celebrate Museums and Galleries Month.
