The Up-and Coming Artists at the Tubô Cebu Art Fair
THE Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) Culture and Heritage Unit (CHU) demonstrates once again its support to the local art and design scene with its participation at the Tubô Cebu Art Fair 2023. Tubô Cebu Art Fair is on its fifth year. It will be held from Friday, Sept. 15 to Sept. 17 at the Ayala Center Cebu. This year’s outing runs on the theme “Juxtapose.”
Rafi’s Casa Gorordo Museum and The Kabilin Center booths feature the work of a young artists collective—15 talents bursting into the local setting with a delightful medley of thought-provoking masterpieces in various media.
The exhibits include the works of University of the Philippines graduates and students Venise Galan, Rogene Ygot, Roy Ingente, Khaye Adlao, John Marco Torejos, Jether Seriño, Enric Carl, Riva Ingente, Densen Almeda, Clark Aquio and Jani Tapayan.
Roy Ingente copped first place at the 45th National Artist Jose T. Joya Awards in 2021. He has developed a fondness for depicting the marginalized and neglected on interesting assemblages using found and discarded materials. Adlao, also a mixed-media artist, presents four products, all inspired by the titles of Mary: Virgin Most Renowned, Mother Most Chaste, Seat of Wisdom and Mother of Divine Grace.
Forty-fourth Joya Awards second-placer Enric Carl brings to the show three of his sketches, “The Abun Dance,” “Offering To Tell” and the emotive “Deception.” Seriño, Tapayan and Riva Ingente use stunning color to full advantage in their paintings.
“We are both proud and excited with the pieces created by these budding artists. The local art world has been significantly enriched by their talents,” said Rafi CHU director, Florencio Moreño.
